Adulthood-only expression of Atg5HMS01244 under the control of Scer\GAL4esg.PU leads to a significant increase in the number of mitotic cells (phospho-H3 staining) in the adult midgut, as compared to controls. (The temporal regulation of expression is dependent on Gal80[ts] and induced by temperature shift to 29[o]C for 5-6 days during adulthood).
