Brief activation of Scer\GAL4AD.R15A01 and Scer\GAL4DBD.R71G01 neurons leads to male flies displaying persistent courtship behavior (tracking and singing) towards a rotating magnet that was previously of no interest.

Thermogenetic activation (using TrpA1UAS.(B).cKa at 29[o]C) of neurons targeted by the split-GAL4 pair of Scer\GAL4DBD.R57C10 and Hsap\RELAAD.R15A01, Scer\GAL4DBD.R22G11 and Hsap\RELAAD.R15A01, or Scer\GAL4DBD.R71G01 and Hsap\RELAAD.R15A01, in adult males significantly increases aggressive lunging behavior and wing extensions towards other males, compared to controls.

Optogenetic activation (using Cnoc\ChR1::Csub\ChRCsChrimson.IVS.20xUAS.Venus with 685 nm (red) light) of neurons targeted by the split-GAL4 pair of Scer\GAL4DBD.R71G01 and Hsap\RELAAD.R15A01 in adult males significantly increases wing extensions towards other males during illumination and significantly increases aggressive lunging behavior towards other males following illumination, compared to controls; locomotor velocity is also significantly reduced during illumination, compared to baseline; activation in solitary males results in a sustained increase in wing extensions during and after illumination, compared to controls.

Optogenetic activation (using Cnoc\ChR1::Csub\ChRCsChrimson.IVS.20xUAS.Venus with bright white light) of neurons targeted by the split-GAL4 pair of Scer\GAL4DBD.R71G01 and Hsap\RELAAD.R15A01 in solitary adult males significantly increases wing extensions, compared to baseline; this increase is significantly reduced when Scer\GAL4GMR43D01 cells are simultaneously activated.
