7bp deletion (CGTTTGC, nucleotides 465-471 of the Ptth-RF coding sequence) in the final exon. Produces a frameshift distal to residue N154 of the Ptth-PR protein, with the protein continuing out of frame for 24 amino acid residues.

Ptth120F2A and Ptth120F2A/Ptth8K1J mutants exhibit a 1-day delay in the developmental time from L1 to pupariation, as compared to controls; third instar larvae gain weight at the same rate as control larvae. The larval critical weight, critical period and terminal growth period are increased as compared to controls although the minimal viable weight occurs slightly earlier than the critical weight and at a lower weight.

Adult males are significantly heavier than controls.

The nuclei of innervated prothoracic gland lobes in gtE1/gtE1, Ptth120F2A/Ptth120F2A do not show the expected increased size as compared to non-innervated lobes; gtE1/gtE1, Ptth120F2A/+ individuals, however, show that expected increase.

Ptth120F2A mutants with activated Scer\GAL4Ptth.cMa-expressing prothoracic gland neurons (using TrpA1UAS.(B).cKa) show normal developmental time to pupariation, instead of the delay observed in Ptth120F2A mutants or the acceleration induced by Scer\GAL4Ptth.cMa neurons activation.
