Katushka is a dimeric far-red fluorescent protein with an excitation peak of 588nm and an emission peak of 635nm in vitro. It is an artificial derivative of the naturally occurring fluorescent protein encoded by the Entacmaea quadricolor eqFP578 gene. It is characterized by fast maturation as well as a high pH-stability and photostability (PMID:17721542).
