TagBFP is a monomeric blue fluorescent protein with an excitation peak of 399nm and an emission peak of 456nm in vitro. It is an artificial derivative of the naturally occurring fluorescent protein encoded by the Entacmaea quadricolor eqFP578 gene, obtained by mutagenesis of TagRFP, and has a tyrosine-based chromophore (PMID:18940671).
