11.5% of heterozygous border follicle cell clusters show defects in migration.

The dendrites of ddaE neurons overextend in Tm102299/Tm1S130510 transheterozygotes and Tm102299 homozygotes.

Homozygous larvae have a defect in head morphogenesis, the pharynx is not retracted into the body during head involution. A protruding pharyngeal mass means individuals cannot feed due to an inability to suck food into the mouth atrium. Embryos lacking maternal Tm1 are defective in pole cell formation.

Mobilisation of the P{PZ} element resulted in reversion of the feeding defect, larvae develop into normal adults. Lack of zygotic Tm1 results in the specific head defect, lack of maternal Tm1 affects germ cell formation.
