stckwt.T:Zzzz\FLAG increases the frequency of male flwG0172 escapers from 3.1% to 22.5% at 18[o]C. The rescued males are fertile. stckwt.T:Zzzz\FLAG increases the small size of flwG0172 larvae, such that they are increased in size compared to wild type. The reduced motility of flwG0172 larvae is rescued by stckwt.T:Zzzz\FLAG, with the rescued larvae being significantly more motile than wild type. The detachment of ventral intersegmental muscles seen in flwG0172 larvae is partially rescued.
flwG0172 mutants carrying either stckQ38A.T:Zzzz\FLAG or stckD303V.T:Zzzz\FLAG arrest during the larval stages. The larvae are significantly smaller and significantly less motile than flwG0172 single mutant larvae. Expression of stckQ38A.T:Zzzz\FLAG does not rescue the detachment of ventral intersegmental muscles seen in flwG0172 larvae. Expression of stckD303V.T:Zzzz\FLAG slightly rescues the detachment of ventral intersegmental muscles seen in flwG0172 larvae.
flwG0172 ; stck3R-17 /+ animals show complete larval lethality (only a limited number of animals were of this genotype could be isolated due to a high rate of balancer breakdown in the required crosses).
The addition of Mlc2S66A,S67A does not suppress flw mutant phenotypes. The viability of flwG0172 mutants is much greater in a sqhA21.T:Zzzz\FLAG background than a sqhA20.T:Zzzz\FLAG background. The crumpled wing phenotype of flwG0172 flies is partially rescued by zipSu(flw)1, zipSu(flw)2 and zipSu(flw)3 and fully rescued by Tm1Su(flw)4.
