RpS12s2783 homozygotes and RpS12s2783/RpS12c06284 and RpS12s2783/RpS12EP3025 transheterozygotes are lethal. RpS12G97D/RpS12s2783 transheterozygotes are viable, do not shown any developmental delay (assessed by the time until eclosion), and lack any obvious morphological defects, including any minute bristle-like phenotype, as compared to controls.

RpS12s2783-homozygous clones in larval wing discs are not recovered, suggesting that RpS12s2783 is homozygous cell lethal. RpS12s2783-heterozygous clones in larval wing discs are not outcompeted by neighboring wild-type clones.

Df(1)su(s)R194-heterozygous clones in the larval eye disc are outcompeted by neighboring clones that also harbor RpL36+t4); this phenotype is not suppressed by homozygosity for RpS12s2783 alone or in combination with RpS12+t2.

RpS12G97D/RpS12s2783 transheterozygosity do not suppress the minute phenotype observed in M(2)56FH heterozygotes (i.e. developmental delay and minute bristles). The following genotypes also result in a minute-like developmental delay phenotype as compared to controls: Df(1)su(s)R194/+, RpS12s2783/+; Df(1)su(s)R194/+, RpS12s2783/RpS12s2783; Df(1)su(s)R194/+, RpS12s2783/RpS12s2783, RpS12+t2; or Df(1)su(s)R194/+, RpS12s2783/RpS12s2783, RpS12G97D.2kb.

The cell lethality of RpS12s2783 is not suppressed by Df(2R)BSC865, as RpS12s2783-homozygous clones in larval wing discs are still not recovered in a Df(2R)BSC865 heterozygous background.

Df(2R)BSC865, RpS12s2783 and M(2)56FH, RpS12s2783 double heterozygous larval wing disc cells outcompete Df(2R)BSC865 and M(2)56FH single heterozygous cells, respectively, as single heterozygous clones are rarely recovered within the respective double heterozygous background.

MycαTub84B.PBb homozygous clones in larval wing discs are outcompeted by neighboring wild-type clones; this phenotype is not suppressed by a RpS12G97D/RpS12s2783 transheterozygous background.

The eye phenotype seen in homozygous CycEJP adults is moderately suppressed if they are also heterozygous for RpS12s2783.

Comments

The lethal phenotype of RpS12s2783/RpS12EP3025 transheterozygotes is rescued by two copies of RpS12Δ2-3.6kb.

The cell lethality of RpS12s2783-homozygous clones in larval wing discs is suppressed by two copies of RpS12+t2 or RpS12G97D.2kb.
