Expression of cdc2AF.hs using heat shock results in induction of premature mitosis in embryos.

Heat-induced expression of cdc2AF.hs in testes results in germline overproliferation defects, including an increase in secondary spermatogonia, due to an extra round of mitosis. Expression of cdc2AF.hs also results in an increase in somatic cyst cells.

Females fail to lay eggs following induction of cdc2AF.hs.

Expression of cdc2AF.hs using heat shock results in unhatched eggs.

Many cells of heatshocked embryos carrying cdc2AF.hs and either CycBS.hs, CycAhs.PK or CycBhs.PK fail to delay mitosis after irradiation.

Has no effect on S phase induction in embryos when expressed using heat shock.

Expression of Z600Scer\UAS.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4prd.RG1 almost completely inhibits the ectopic mitosis induced in embryos by expression of cdc2AF.hs using heat shock.

Expression of cdc2AF.hs in CycAC8LR1 mutant embryos fails to restore mitosis 16 in the epidermis.

Coexpression of three transgenes, cdc2AF.hs, CycBΔ90, and CycB3Δ, restores the entry of epidermal cells in CycAC8LR1 embryos into mitosis 16. After entry into mitosis, the epidermal cells are unable to complete this division. However, coexpression of cdc2AF.hs, CycBhs.PK and CycB3hs.PS does not suppress this phenotype.

Expression of cdc2AF.hs in a stg2 mutant background drives the G2-arrested stg mutant cells into mitosis.

Simultaneous over-expression of CycAhs.PK and cdc2AF.hs is sufficient to induce mitosis throughout the entire embryo. This phenotype is suppressed by the addition of ruxhs.PT.

Heat induced coexpression of CycAhs.PK and Cdk1AF.hs or CycBhs.PK and Cdk1AF.hs induces proliferation in quiescent pole cells. Ectopic mitoses are followed by cell division in pole cells.

Dramatically increases the efficiency of S phase induction in embryos when co-expressed with either CycAhs.PK or CycAS.hs using heat shock. S phase is not induced in embryos when cdc2AF.hs is co-expressed with either CycBhs.PK or CycBS.hs using heat shock.
