Description

Insertion of P{lacW} into the 5' UTR of the dco transcription unit. The insertions in dcoP103 and dcoS144701 fall into the same site in the first 612bp intron, 251 bp downstream from the 3' end of exon 1.

Heteroallelic combination of dcoS144701 with dco2, dco18, dcole88, dcoi3-193, dcoS053813, dcoS139602, dcoS091510 or dcoP103 produces adults that show reduced eyes and/or reduced facets, occasional extra vibrissae and defects in the shape and veins of the wing, though the penetrance depends on the particular allele in question, and is frequently much higher in females than in males. dco3 in combination with dcoS144701 : adult viable with reduced eyes, extra vibrissae and expanded wings. dco2 in combination with dcoS144701 : adult viable with normal phenotype. dco18 in combination with dcoS144701 :adult viable with narrow wings, reduced eyes, disordered facets and minor wing vein defects. dcole88 in combination with dcoS144701 : adult viable with reduced eyes, disordered facets and minor wing vein defects. dcoi3-193 in combination with dcoS144701 : adult viable with reduced eyes, disordered facets and minor wing vein defects. dcoS053813 in combination with dcoS144701 : adult viable with reduced eyes, disordered facets and minor wing vein defects. dcoS139602 in combination with dcoS144701 : adult viable with reduced eyes, disordered facets and minor wing vein defects. dcoS091510 in combination with dcoS144701 : adult viable with normal phenotype. dcoP103 in combination with dcoS144701 : adult viable with normal phenotype.

Early lethal.
