Hyperpolarization (using Npha\HReNpHR(Unk).UAS.YFP.cUa with 590 nm (yellow) light) of Scer\GAL4VT049246 cells in adults during testing significantly reduces the residual anaesthesia-resistant 3 hour aversive olfactory memory after cold-shock, compared to controls.

Inhibition (using shits1.IVS.p10.20xUAS at 32[o]C) of Scer\GAL4VT049246 cells in adults during retrieval alone, but not acquisition and consolidation, significantly reduces 24-hour associative olfactory water-reward memory, compared to controls; inhibition has no effect on odor acuity or water preference, compared to controls.

Inhibition (using shi1.UAS at 31[o]C) of Scer\GAL4VT049246 cells in adults during testing only significantly reduces 3-hour aversive olfactory anaesthesia-resistant memory, compared to controls, with no effect on odor or shock avoidance.
