deGradFP is an engineered F-box protein that targets GFP-tagged proteins for degradation via the ubiquitin pathway. deGradFP contains the N-terminal 198 amino acids of D. melanogaster slmb (this includes the F-box domain), fused to VHH(GFP4), a nanobody that binds GFP (and some of its derivatives, including YFP, EYFP and Venus) (FBrf0217163, reviewed in FBrf0233758). Upon expression of deGradFP, target proteins tagged with GFP (or any the other GFP derivatives bound by VHH(GFP4)) are specifically polyubiquitinated and rapidly degraded by the proteasome (adapted from FBrf0233758).
