Expression of Lsd-2Scer\UAS.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4Desat1.PB results in a significant increase in lipid droplets in larval oenocytes in fed, but not starved, larvae, and does not change oenocyte size in starved conditions, as compared to controls.

Expression of Lsd-2Scer\UAS.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4ppl.PP reduces the accumulation of lipid droplets in 78% of starved larvae, with approximately 4-fold fewer large droplets per oenocyte.

Immature adult flies expressing Lsd-2Scer\UAS.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4fat have more storage fat (measured as triacylglycerol content) than control flies.

Lsd-2Scer\UAS.cGa driven by Scer\GAL4fat causes obesity. Triacylglycerol levels are elevated bu 28%. Flies are also more starvation resistant than controls. When Lsd-2Scer\UAS.cGa is driven by Scer\GAL4Adh.PF triacylglycerol levels increase by 48.5%.
