Inhibition (using Hsap\KCNJ2UAS.EGFP) or ablation (using rprUAS.C) of Scer\GAL4S3.Hug cells in adults significantly reduces the strength of circadian locomotor rhythms under constant darkness, compared to controls; inhibition (using Hsap\KCNJ2UAS.EGFP) significantly reduces evening peak activity under light-dark and dark-dark conditions, compared to controls, with little effect on feeding rhythms.

Thermogenetic activation (using TrpA1UAS.(B).cKa at 32[o]C) of Scer\GAL4S3.Hug cells in larvae reduces food intake and pharyngeal pump cycle frequency (antennal nerve activity and cibarial dilator musculature contractions), compared to controls.

Ablation (using rprUAS.cUa) of Scer\GAL4S3.Hug cells in adult males does not affect food intake, compared to controls.
