Homozygous males show 78% viability, while homozygous females show 100% lethality.

Ns3G0431/Df(1)BSC719 males and females show 100% lethality.

Ns3G0431/Ns3A60 males show 100% lethality, while females show 22.4% viability. The surviving females eclose later than their heterozygous siblings, are smaller than normal and have slender bristles mimicking the Minute phenotype.

Ns3G0431/Ns3VE795 males show 100% lethality, while females show 16.2% viability. The surviving females eclose later than their heterozygous siblings, are smaller than normal and have slender bristles mimicking the Minute phenotype.

Homozygous males show a developmental delay and have a reduced adult body weight compared to controls.

Mutant females show a profound developmental delay and reduced viability and mutant female flies are dramatically reduced in size.

Mutant larvae show retarded growth, reaching only half the length of their heterozygous siblings after 5 days of development. Imaginal discs from homozygous larvae are reduced in size to a similar degree. Mutant males show a profound developmental delay compared to controls raised together in uncrowded conditions, with a median time from egg lay to eclosion of 25.5 days compared with 13.5 days for control animals. Many mutant males die before reaching adulthood, with only 30% of the expected number of mutant males being observed. Mutant males that survive to adulthood are only approximately 60% the weight of controls, although they are properly proportioned and apparently healthy.

The mean cell area in the area between wing veins II and III is reduced by 16% in mutant wings compared with control wings. Cell number is reduced by 22% in mutant wings compared to control wings.

Homozygous mutant and wild-type twin spot clones are indistinguishable in size.

Mutant flies show a reduction in eye size, ommatidia size and ommatidia number compared to controls.
