The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).
goe is expressed in a germline-specific manner in late third instar larval ovaries where it is localized to a membrane compartment at the interface between germ cells. Outside of ovaries, it is expressed the ventral midline, tracheal placodes, and at the anterior-most row of each segment in embryos. It is also expressed uniformly in wing discs.
