AlphaFold produces a per-residue confidence score (pLDDT) between 0 and 100. Some regions with low pLDDT may be unstructured in isolation.
Gene model reviewed during 5.49
There is only one protein coding transcript and one polypeptide associated with this gene
Interacts with fz and fz2 (PubMed:20579883). Interacts (via N-terminus) with stan (PubMed:23292348). As an accessory component of the multisubunit proton-transporting vacuolar (V)-ATPase protein pump, might interacts with VhaAC45 (PubMed:29995586).
Proteolytically cleaved by a furin-like convertase in the trans-Golgi network to generate N- and C-terminal fragments (PubMed:23292348, PubMed:29127204). Cleavage is reduced in the fat body (PubMed:29127204).

The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).

Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see JBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
VhaM8.9 is required for stable planar cell polarity (PCP) domains, identifying it as a PCP core protein. It also has additional roles in vesicular acidification as well as endolysosomal sorting and degradation.

FBgn0037671 was renamed from 'VhaM8.9' to 'ATP6AP2' in the FB2018_01 release for the following reasons: i) the old nomenclature refers to its original discovery as a 8.9 kDa fragment associated with the V-ATPase, but this was later found to be a fragment of a full-length protein of 37kDa; ii) it is referred to as a V-ATPase 'accessory subunit' and may regulate only a subset of V-ATPases; iii) 'ATP6AP2' (which is the symbol of the clear mammalian ortholog) is now the preferred nomenclature used in the Drosophila literature (e.g. FBrf0230028, FBrf0237364).
