Only 34.1% of ommatidia are correctly oriented in flies expressing Rac1V12.hs.sev.

Expression of Rac1V12.hs.sev results in the misorientation of many ommatidia, with some displaying effects in chirality, such as the adoption of the wrong chiral form or remaining symmetrical. The symmetrical clusters are always of the R3/R3 type. The transgene also interferes with photoreceptor recruitment or differentiation. These phenotypes appear early in development, suggesting they are primary defects.
