A Myc-epitope-tagged qkr58E-3 protein expressed in HeLa cells migrates with a molecular mass of about 40 kD. qkr58E-3 protein can bind homopolymeric RNA (poly(U)) in vitro, and can associate into homomultimers; the GSG domain is sufficient to mediate both interactions. A GFPFBtr0091350:pb-XRqkr58E-3 fusion protein activates apoptotic pathways in mouse NIH 3T3 and Drosophila S2 cells.
