Model Confidence:
  • Very high (pLDDT > 90)
  • Confident (90 > pLDDT > 70)
  • Low (70 > pLDDT > 50)
  • Very low (pLDDT < 50)

AlphaFold produces a per-residue confidence score (pLDDT) between 0 and 100. Some regions with low pLDDT may be unstructured in isolation.

Testis-specificity index

The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).

wah mutants display neuromuscular junction overgrowth. The same phenotype occurs following dsRNA-mediated genetic interference of wah.

Identification: In a screen of lethal P-element insertions on the third chromosome that affect neuromuscular junctions.

      Nomenclature comments

FlyBase curator comment: CG4699 was first named 'NSL1' in this 2006 paper and this has been the most popular symbol in the literature since then.

      Etymology

'waharan' is a Kashmiri term for 'to expand'.

Named as a 'nonspecific lethal' because disruption of the gene by P element insertions is lethal in both sexes, in contrast to male-specific lethal genes.
