Eggs derived from homozygous females lays eggs that range in phenotype from wild type to eggs having a slight expansion of the chorion at the base of the dorsal appendage (more than 70% of dorsal appendages are wild type). Eggs derived from Ras85Dix12a/Df(3R)by10 females have a single dorsal appendage.

94% of eggs laid by Ras85De2F/Ras85Dix12a females have one fused dorsal appendage.

Small proportion of eggs from homozygous females have fused dorsal appendages.

Homozygous and hemizygous (transheterozygotes with Df(3R)by10) females lay eggs that range from wild-type to those exhibiting slightly defective chorion evidenced by close spacing and slight enlargement of the bases of the dorsal appendages.

Homozygous females that are also heterozygous for Df(2R)Egfr3 or for grk3 show an enhancement of the eggshell phenotype. The P{lacW}Nrkk14301 insertion (which is inserted into 2 overlapping genes; intron 1 of TppII and exon 1 of Nrk) is a moderate dominant enhancer of the Ras85Dix12a eggshell phenotype; 31-40% of dorsal appendages are wild type.

The fused dorsal appendage phenotype is partially suppressed by one copy of Src42A15-1 or Df(2R)nap8.

The proportion of eggs from homozygous females that have fused dorsal appendages is dramatically enhanced by halving spi dosage.

Eggshell phenotype is enhanced by mutations in Egfr and grk.
