When nejScer\UAS.cMa is driven by Scer\GAL4OK386, an uninflated wing phenotype is seen. When driven by Scer\GAL4OK363, uninflated, partially folded, or curly wings (40%) some animals die as pharate adults. When driven by Scer\GAL430A animals die as pharate adults. When nejScer\UAS.cMa is driven by Scer\GAL471B most animals die as pharate adults survivors are minute or wild-type. When driven in the eye by Scer\GAL4GMR.PU, a smooth eye phenotype is seen.

Overexpression of nejScer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu in a wild-type background results in an approximately 70% decrease in presynaptic transmitter release at the neuromuscular junction, without any change quantal size and without any change in the average resting potential or average input resistance of the postsynaptic muscle. Overexpression of nejScer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4Mhc.PW in a wild-type background results in a decrease in presynaptic transmitter release at the neuromuscular junction. No changes in quantal size or muscle physiological parameters are seen.
