    Detailed Description

Vast majority of AdamTS-Arnwy2/Df(3R)88F5 transheterozygous die before reaching pupal stage and only few survive to adulthood.

AdamTS-Arnwy1/AdamTS-Arnwy2 transheterozygous third instar larvae show neural invasion phenotype (neural cells from the brain invade adjacent peripheral structures such as imaginal discs).

    Comments

Expression of either AdamTS-AUAS.RB or AdamTS-AUAS.cIa driven by Scer\GAL4elav.PU fails to rescue the neural invasion phenotype (neural cells from the brain invade adjacent peripheral structures such as imaginal discs) characteristic for AdamTS-Arnwy1/AdamTS-Arnwy2 mutant larvae when combined with Scer\GAL80repo.PL, but the phenotype is rescued if the driver is used alone. Scer\GAL4repo-driven expression also rescues the invasion phenotype but replaces it with severe morphological anomalies: an elongated nerve cord and flattened brain lobes. Expression of either AdamTS-AE439A.UAS or AdamTS-AE591A.UAS controlled by Scer\GAL4repo partially rescues the neural invasion phenotype of AdamTS-Arnwy1/AdamTS-Arnwy2 mutants: ~45% of larvae exhibit modest invasion phenotype, but all the larvae show abnormal elongation of the ventral nerve cord.

    Discoverer

The AdamTS-A[rnwy2] allele was identified as a mutation that is closely linked to Sb1 and is present on the TM3-Sb, TM6C-Sb1 and Gla Sb[1] chromosomes. It may correspond to the same mutational event as AdamTS-A[89Aa-1].
