DmLIM-2, DMlp1
cytoskeletal LIM-domain protein, zinc-ion binding Cys-rich protein a protein - expressed strongly in the Z-band region of the sarcomere - involved in development and maintenance of the embryonic and flight muscles - promotes myogenic differentiation

AlphaFold produces a per-residue confidence score (pLDDT) between 0 and 100. Some regions with low pLDDT may be unstructured in isolation.

The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).
Mlp60A transcripts are first detected by northern blot analysis in 8-12hr embryos, peak in 16-24hr embryos, are present in low levels in larvae, show a second peak of expression in pupae, and persist in adults. They are detected by in situ hybridization starting in embryonic stage 14 in the growing syncytial myotubes. They are present in the completed pattern of somatic muscles in stage 16 embryos where they are distributed throughout the mature myotubes. Transcripts are also expressed in the visceral mesoderm and the pharyngeal muscle.
Mlp60A transcripts are detected from stage 13 in the developing muscles of the somatic and visceral mesoderm, subsequent to the formation of muscle precursor cells.
Mlp60A protein is detected beginning in stage 14 embryos in somatic, visceral and pharyngeal muscles. Protein is found throughout the myotube. Mlp60A protein appears to associate with linear cytoplasmic elements in the muscle cell syncytium that are thought to be the sarcomeric actin filament network.

Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see JBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.

Mlp60A protein is identified and developmental expression pattern determined. Results reveal a striking conservation of sequence, timing of gene expression, tissue distribution of gene products and subcellular localisation among LIM proteins of vertebrates and invertebrates.
Protein has a single LIM domain and is expressed in the muscle.
During embryogenesis Mlp60A expression is associated with developing muscles of the visceral and somatic mesoderm subsequent to the formation of muscle precursor cells.
