Homozygous viable. Lethal in combination with ctC145.
Homozygous embryos fail to transform ES organs to CH organs.
No embryonic phenotype.

All flies of the genotype ctL188/Y;Df(3R)Scr/+ show defective mouthparts. Number of pseudotrachea often reduced in ctL188, but moreso in combination with Df(3R)Scr/+ and structures characteristic of legs and/or antennae are present. The phenotype shows 100% penetrance but variable expressivity. This phenotype resembles that of pb mutants. Similar phenotype occurs for other combinations with deficiencies e.g. Df(3R)MAP2 or Df(3R)MAP8 that remove pb and with pb1, pb5, pb14 and pb27, though not with Df(3R)LIN. The transformations seen in ct; pb/+ flies is less severe than that seen for e.g. pb1/pb5 flies. In 22% of ctL188 males in heterozygous combination with Antp11, ectopic structures project (usually unilaterally) from the position of the anterior spiracle on the dorsal prothorax, and are associated with malformation of absence of the two macrochaetae on the humeral callus. The phenotype is reminiscent of that of Antp allelic combinations and is increased at 18oC. 63% of ctL188/ctC145; Antp11/+ flies show this phenotype at 24oC.
The frequency and severity of the ctL188/ctdb10 multinucleate cell phenotype is enhanced by Pka-C101272. Ovaries from ctL188/+; RpII140wimp/+ females show no abnormal phenotype.
lethal IV cut phenotypic class.
ctL188 fails to complement ctC145 and ctlS1, and alleles of the cut wing and kinked femur phenotypic class.
