MmGFP is a green fluorescent protein, that is an artificial derivative of the naturally occurring fluorescent protein encoded by the Aequorea victoria GFP gene (UniProtKB:P42212), derived by mutagenesis of the mGFP5 fluorescent protein. MmGFP contains two mutations relative to mGFP5, F64L and S65T, which have previously been shown to enhance the blue light absorption and enhance solubility of GFP respectively. Two apparently silent mutations that do not measurably affect fluorescence intensity, H25Y and G191D, are also present (PMID:9102300).
