GFP(mut3star) is a green fluorescent protein. It is an artificial derivative of the naturally occurring fluorescent protein encoded by the Aequorea victoria GFP gene (UniProtKB:P42212) and contains the mutations S2R, S65G and S72A (PMID:9603842). The S2R replacement appears to have no phenotypic effect compared to the GFPmut3 protein from which it is derived (PMID:9603842): GFPmut3 has an excitation peak of 501nm and an emission peak of 511nm (PMID:8707053).
