αGFP is a green fluorescent protein with an excitation peak of 397nm and an emission peak of 506nm in vitro (PMID:9370472). It is an artificial derivative of the naturally occurring fluorescent protein encoded by the Aequorea victoria GFP gene (UniProtKB:P42212). It contains the mutations Q80R, F99S, M153T and V163A relative to the wild-type GFP sequence (PMID:9630892, PMID:9370472).
