an adaptor protein that facilitates signal transduction as a downstream component of the receptor tyrosine kinases Sevenless, Egf receptor and Torso

AlphaFold produces a per-residue confidence score (pLDDT) between 0 and 100. Some regions with low pLDDT may be unstructured in isolation.
Low-frequency RNA-Seq exon junction(s) not annotated.
Gene model reviewed during 5.45
3.2 (northern blot)
None of the polypeptides share 100% sequence identity.
878 (aa); 115 (kD observed); 96 (kD predicted)
Interacts with DRK.
Phosphorylated on Tyr-801 and Tyr-854 in response to sevenless activation, which initiates the recruitment of the phosphatase CSW.

The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).
dos transcripts are expressed predominantly in early embryos, late larvae, and early pupae.
dos protein is found at low levels in all cells of the eye imaginal disc. It is detected at higher levels in the membranes of cells in the morphogenetic furrow and in clusters of cells behind the furrow

Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see JBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
Gene expression is increased in response to the presence of two copies of Scer\GAL4hs.PB.
The protein encoded by dos is a csw substrate and may also be a direct or indirect target for the tyrosine kinase activity of sev. Mutations that inactivate dos dominantly enhance the effects of reduced csw activity and suppress the effects of either excessive sev or csw activity. Results indicate that dos is a crucial component of the sev signalling pathway and strongly suggest that dephosphorylation of dos by csw promotes R7 photoreceptor differentiation.
