Expression of Hsap\RUNX1::Hsap\RUNX1T1Scer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4Hml.Δ increases proliferation of circulating hemocytes, raising their numbers to 10 times the wild type level. These hemocytes are relatively small and round in shape. The number of hemocyte precursors is also increased compared to wild type. The number of lamellocytes and crystal cells is greater than in wild type and 30-40% of larvae display melanotic tumours. Hemocytes develop with a normal time cycle, indicating that ecdysone pulses in these larvae are intact.
