DmINCENP
a component of the chromosome passenger complex - regulates activity of Aurora B kinase through a positive-feedback loop - as a microtubule-binding protein Incenp has a well-defined centromere-targeting domain at its N-terminus, suggesting a role in targeting the kinase to particular locations within the mitotic cell

AlphaFold produces a per-residue confidence score (pLDDT) between 0 and 100. Some regions with low pLDDT may be unstructured in isolation.

The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).

Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see JBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
Incenp has a role in the maintenance of the synaptonemal complex during female meiosis and in the biorientation of bivalent chromosomes in prometaphase I.
Incenp has a role in two steps in spindle formation in female meiosis; the first is to assemble spindle microtubules around chromosomes and the second is to stabilise the spindle equatorial region to maintain spindle bipolarity.
RNAi screen using dsRNA made from templates generated with primers directed against this gene causes defects in spindle shape when assayed in S2 cells. This phenotype can be observed when the screen is performed with or without Cdc27 dsRNA.
Area matching Drosophila genomic sequence AC005452. EST AA979503 matches this genomic sequence 181bp 3' to NPS0227.
Mutation in mat(2)ea-C results in a strict maternal effect phenotype with defects during presyncytial stages.
