Gene model reviewed during 5.47
There is only one protein coding transcript and one polypeptide associated with this gene
The phosphorylation on Thr-177 activates the enzyme (By similarity). A conserved Tyr, which must also be phosphorylated to activate the enzyme in closely related sequences, is replaced by His-179 in this sequence.

Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see GBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.

The p38c gene may have been derived from the p38a gene, but as the region of similarity between the two genes does not span an exon-exon junction in the parental gene, retroposition cannot necessarily be inferred.
