In embryos expressing wgScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E in a hhAC/hhAC background, naked cuticle is made over four to five cell diameters posterior as well as anterior to the en-expression domain. In these embryos, instead of denticle belts, a thin stripe of denticles similar to row 6 denticles are formed. In embryos expressing wgScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E in a hhAC/+ background, an intermediate phenotype is seen, with small regions of naked cuticle ("gaps") being found within denticle belts, often replacing denticle rows 2-5.
Expression of wgScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4C96 suppresses the loss of wing blade tissue, including the slender recurved chemosensory wing margin bristles, seen in ctK, ct2s or ct6 flies, but does not rescue the loss of the stout mechanosensory wing margin bristles.
Coexpression of wgScer\UAS.cLa with eyScer\UAS.cHa, under control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1, completely blocks ectopic eye formation (using antibodies against elav to visualize eye differentiation) in leg and wing discs.
Co-expression of vgScer\UAS.cZa and wgScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4vg.PM causes the transformation of the eye into wing blade, resulting in outgrowths with histotypical characteristics typical of wing blade. Co-expression of vgScer\UAS.cZa and wgScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4Ubx.PdC in clones in the wing imaginal disc leads to the formation of tubular and perpendicular outgrowths from the wing blade. The size of the outgrowths is larger than in clones expressing vgScer\UAS.cZa under the control of Scer\GAL4Ubx.PdC and is dependent on the distance from the wing margin. All the cells of the wg-vg expressing clones are differentiated into wing margin sensory elements, whereas non-autonomous territories of the outgrowth are differentiated into wing blade trichomes. Co-expression of vgScer\UAS.cZa and wgScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4Ubx.PdC in clones in the wing hinge or notum cause transformation phenotypes; the cells autonomously differentiate into wing margin and non-autonomously differentiate into wing blade trichomes. Co-expression of vgScer\UAS.cZa and wgScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4Ubx.PdC in clones in the leg results in a "mixed" phenotype with leg chaetae mixed with wing blade trichomes in a "salt and pepper" distribution. Co-expression of vgScer\UAS.cZa and wgScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4Ubx.PdC in clones in the eye results in the cells autonomously differentiating into sensory elements of the wing margin.
The overexpression of wgScer\UAS.cLa in a AxnScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP, Scer\GAL4arm.PS mutant leads to some restoration of naked cuticle.
Expression of wgScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E in hhAC embryos rescues the formation of neuroblast NB 7-3 95% of hemisegments.
The addition of either dor8 or Chc1 to wgScer\UAS.cLa,Scer\GAL4en-e16E animals leads to an enhancement of the denticle belt phenotype leading to large amounts of excess naked cuticle.

The dorsal patterning defects in linunspecified embryos are not rescued by the expression of wgScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4arm.PS.
The tracheal system defects caused by expression of wgScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4btl.PS is largely suppressed by Df(2L)32FP-5, although the visceral branches remain partially reduced. When wgScer\UAS.cLa is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4btl.PS in a tkv8 background a huge dorsal trunk is formed and no other tracheal branches are usually formed.
When dppScer\UAS.cSa and wgScer\UAS.cLa are coexpressed via Scer\GAL4T155 in pupae, abdominal pattern is restored to wild type, indicating that pleural and tergite/sternite fates are specified by the balance between competing wg and dpp activities.
Significantly suppresses the reduction in the dorsal side of the wing pouch seen in larvae expressing vgScer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4A9.
Scer\GAL4h-1J3-mediated expression in smo3 mutants at 18oC suppresses the smo denticle belt phenotype.
Although Scer\GAL4arm.PS mediated expression of wgScer\UAS.cLa in wgl-17 Df(2R)enE embryos does not rescue segmentation, the embryos do lengthen a little but no Keilin's organs form. Instead of a lawn of denticles the ventral abdomen now makes naked cuticle. The T1 denticles resemble those normally found in the beard, although the beard is not small and localised. Scer\GAL4arm.PS mediated expression of both wgScer\UAS.cLa and enScer\UAS.cGa in wgl-17 Df(2R)enE embryos causes a small beardless, near-spherical and unsegmented embryo with extruded organs (believed to be foregut and hindgut), i.e. less phenotypic rescue than for Scer\GAL4arm.PS mediated expression of wgScer\UAS.cLa alone. Scer\GAL4arm.PS mediated expression of both wgScer\UAS.cLa and hhScer\UAS.cIa in wgl-17 Df(2R)enE embryos causes naked cuticle to form in the place of the T1 beard. Scer\GAL4prd.RG1 mediated expression of wgScer\UAS.cLa in wgl-17 Df(2R)enE embryos causes a lengthening of the whole embryo and instead of a lawn of denticles alternate stripes of naked and denticulate cuticle appear. Two types of denticle form in each band, small ones on the outside and larger ones inward. Individual denticles tend to point towards the nearest naked domain.

Expression of wgScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4cad-em459 in wgl-16/wgSp-1 females sometimes results in recovery of the vaginal plates and tergite eight, but not the vulva. The analia are much reduced in some cases and some females have no genital and anal structures. Expression of wgScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4cad-em459 in wgl-16/wgSp-1 males results in recovery of genital structures such as the claspers and penis apparatus, although the penis apparatus is sometimes still reduced. Analia are almost normal or reduced.
Expression of wgScer\UAS.cLa driven by Scer\GAL4en-e16E in a wgl-17 background rescues many rows of the denticle belts, except row 1.
wgspd-fg/wgspd-hL2 transheterozygous wing phenotype can be partially rescued by Scer\GAL4vg.PM induced expression of wgScer\UAS.cLa, rescue of the anterior wing margin and the posterior wing blade between vein 5 and the posterior margin.
