Gene Group (FlyBase)
MXR METABOTROPIC GLUTAMATE-LIKE RECEPTORS -
The insect mXR metabotropic glutamate-like receptors (mXR) diverge from classical metabotropic glutamate receptors as they lack the residues that interact with the the gamma-carboxylic group of glutamate. The ligand for mtt has not been identified, but experiments with head extracts indicate an endogenous ligand with a primary amino group and it may be involved in the avoidance response to L-canavanine. Structure
Protein 3D structure   (Predicted by AlphaFold)   (AlphaFold entry A0A0B4KF15)

If you don't see a structure in the viewer, refresh your browser.
Model Confidence:
  • Very high (pLDDT > 90)
  • Confident (90 > pLDDT > 70)
  • Low (70 > pLDDT > 50)
  • Very low (pLDDT < 50)

AlphaFold produces a per-residue confidence score (pLDDT) between 0 and 100. Some regions with low pLDDT may be unstructured in isolation.

Testis-specificity index

The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).

Additional Descriptive Data

mtt is detected in the labellum and in tibia/tarsae by RT-PCR. In situ hybridizaiton to the labellum shows that it is expressed in one gustatory receptor neuron per labellar chemosensillum.
