DWnt-2, DWnt2, Wnt-2
ligand - Wnt homolog - required for the development of the sheath of the male reproductive tract and testis morphogenesis - mediates redox regulation - maintains the germ line stem cell differentiation niche

AlphaFold produces a per-residue confidence score (pLDDT) between 0 and 100. Some regions with low pLDDT may be unstructured in isolation.

Palmitoleoylated by porcupine. The lipid group functions as a sorting signal, targeting the ligand to polarized vesicles that transport Wnt2 to unique sites at the cell surface. Depalmitoleoylated by notum, leading to inhibit Wnt signaling pathway.

The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).
Wnt2 transcript is first detected in stage 13 embryos, in the mesodermal cells which will form the somatic mesoderm of the gonad. Wnt2 is expressed in the gonad at stage 15, and this expression is limited to the posterior portion of the gonad at stage 16. In late third instar larvae, Wnt2 expression is detected in male genital primordia. In the 24 hr male pupal genital disc, expression is detected in the epithelial cells at the apical tip of the developing seminal vesicle. Wnt2 transcript is not detected in female structures; however, when Wnt2 is ectopically expressed in third instar larval females, male-specific pigment cells are formed in the resulting adults.

Please Note FlyBase no longer curates genomic clone accessions so this list may not be complete
Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see JBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
Candidate gene for testis length quantitative trait locus.
Wnt2 is required for cell fate determination and morphogenesis in the developing male reproductive tract.
Wnt2 encodes an amino terminal signal peptide suggesting the gene product is a secreted protein.
Sequence analysis of Wnt genes is performed in several species to determine the ancestral lineage of the gene family.
