ph-p410 homozygous adult males do not show ectopic sex combs on the prothoracic leg.

ph-p410/Y males display a homeotic transformation of the mesothoracic legs into prothoracic legs manifesting as extra sex combs.

Mutants show a low number of ectopic sex combs on the second leg.

90% of ph-p410/Y flies have ectopic sex combs on the second leg, but they do not have ectopic sex combs on the third leg.

ph-p410/+ females show weak suppression of the telomeric position effect (TPE) of P{hsp26-pt-T}39C-5, while ph-p410 homozygous females and hemizygous males show a strong suppression of TPE. ph-p410/+ suppresses the telomeric position effect (TPE) of P{hsp26-pt-T}39C-27, P{hsp26-pt-T}39C-31 and P{wA}4-4.

ph-p410 mutants exhibit an esc-like phenotype, consisting of homeotic transformation of mesothoracic or metathoracic legs towards prothoracic legs due to the deregulation of Scr.

Heterozygous males have ectopic sex comb teeth on the T2 (penetrance 38%) and T3 (penetrance 24%) legs.

en79.Tag:HA/+, ph-p410/Y males show severely disrupted pigmentation and bristle pattern of the abdomen; en79.Tag:HA/+, ph-p410/+ females do not show this defects.

The ectopic sex comb phenotype observed in dacΔPRE2, dacΔPRE2 or dacPRE2.GAGAmut homozygotes is enhanced to full/near full penetrance by ph-p410; a nearly fully penetrant phenotype is also observed when dacΔPRE2.ΔPRE1 is in heterozygosity.

dacΔPRE1, ph-p410 double mutant adult males frequently show an ectopic sex comb on the T2 prothoracic leg segment, which is not observed in dacΔPRE1 single mutants or wild-type controls; the phenotype progresses to almost full penetrance from 21[o]C to 25[o]C.

dacgypsyI, ph-p410 double mutant adult males rarely show an ectopic sex comb on the T2 prothoracic leg segment only at 28[o]C, and never at 21[o]C or 25[o]C.

The formation of ectopic wing veins observed in adult flies expressing Marcal1Scer\UAS.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4tub.PU is ameliorated by combination with a single copy of ph-p410.

The homeotic transformation of the mesothoracic legs into prothoracic legs manifesting as extra sex combs characteristic for ph-p410/Y males is partially suppressed by Marcal1del heterozygosity and to a greater extent (yet still not a full rescue) by Marcal1del homozygosity.

Similarly, the partial homeotic wing-to-haltere transformation observed in ph-p410/+;Pc1/+ double heterozygotes is ameliorated by combination with Marcal1del in homozygosity.

rept06945/+ enhances the ph-p410/Y ectopic sex comb phenotype; 100% of the double mutant flies have ectopic sex combs on both the second and third legs.

lolalk02512 enhances the ph-p410 esc-like phenotype, consisting of homeotic transformation of mesothoracic or metathoracic legs towards prothoracic legs due to the deregulation of Scr. In addition there is an increase in the mean number of sex comb teeth in ph-p410, lolalk02512 double mutants. One extra copy of lolal+tBB, lolalScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG or lolalScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32, suppresses the ph-p410 esc-like phenotype. Mutants heterozygous for lolalk02512, lolalk11212, or lolalk07907, when also heterozygous for ph-p410 exhibit a contrabithorax phenotype, which is a wing-to-haltere transformation due to ectopic expression of Ubx in the posterior part of the wing disc, often resulting in curvature of the wing. This phenotype is further enhanced in specific lolal heteroallelic viable combinations, such as lolalk02512/lolal311a, lolalk11212/lolal311a, and lolalk07907/lolal311a, when also heterozygous for ph-p410.

The addition of lolalk02512/+ to homozygous ph-p410 animals shows a partial homeotic transformation of A4 to A5, A5 to A6, and A6 to A7. There is a strong reduction of the size of the 6th tergite. Sex combs are seen on the second and third legs.

Flies carrying one copy of either wcad.PRE, wprod.PRE, weya.PRE or waPKC.PRE in a w1118/w1118; ph-p410/+ double mutant background have darker eyes than flies with one copy of wcad.PRE, wprod.PRE, weya.PRE or waPKC.PRE in a single mutant w1118/w1118 background.

ph-p410/+ does not suppress the rough eye phenotype due to Scer\GAL4ey.PH; asf1Scer\UAS.cMa.

ph-p410 Hsc70-454.1/+ males die as pharate adults with complete ectopic sex combs on the second and third thoracic legs. These animals show malformed or missing abdominal tergites and sternites, a reduced number of thoracic bristles, and missing aristae.

Mutant heterozygotes show a strong suppression of the eye phenotype see in P{UAS-lacZ.Abd-B.5F24} leading to darker eyes.

100% of ph-p410/Y; en54/+, ph-p410/Y; en4/+, ph-p410/Y; enC/+ or ph-p410/Y; enXho25/+ double heterozygotes have a gap in the fourth wing vein at 25oC. 80% of ph-p410/Y; Df(2R)en-SFX31/+ double heterozygotes have a gap in the fourth wing vein at 25oC. ph-p410/Y; en54/+ is lethal at 29oC. 0% and 5% of ph-p410/+; en54/+ double heterozygotes have a gap in the fourth wing vein at 25oC and 29oC respectively. The penetrance of the phenotype at 29oC is increased to 25% if the flies are also expressing hhhs.PI and decreased to 0% if the flies are also heterozygous for hhts2.

Strong suppressor of eye pigment phenotype of wT81.

In combination with Pc3 (both heterozygous with wild type) an antenna to leg transformation is sometimes observed.
