In early pupal development, death of cone cells is observed and only 2-3 cone cells remain. When HScer\UAS.cNa is driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PF flies have eyes that are slightly smaller along the anterior posterior axis and show ommatidial fusion and interommatidial bristle tufting, as well as bristle loss.
Expression of HScer\UAS.cNa under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E results in small patches of ectopic vein and irregular vein thickening in the wing. No ectopic bristles are produced. Loss of wing tissue and wing margin is seen.
