Hb9, dHb9
a homeodomain transcription factor - regulates motorneuron cell fate by restricting expression of Even-skipped and Lim2 - dHb9 expressing larval motor neurons persist through metamorphosis to innervate adult-specific muscle targets and function in Drosophila eclosion
Please see the JBrowse view of Dmel\exex for information on other features

AlphaFold produces a per-residue confidence score (pLDDT) between 0 and 100. Some regions with low pLDDT may be unstructured in isolation.
Gene model reviewed during 5.45
There is only one protein coding transcript and one polypeptide associated with this gene

The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).

Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see JBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
Lim3 and exex are expressed in near identical patterns though neither is required for the activation of expression of the other. tup and exex also do not regulate each other's expression. exex represses Lim3 cell-non-autonomously in a subset of dorsally projecting motorneurons. exex and eve regulate each other's expression through gro-dependent crossrepression. Cross-repressive interactions between exex and eve delimit exex expression to ventral and lateral motor neurons and eve expression to dorsal motor neurons.
exex plays a role in the development or differentiation of ventrally projecting motoneurons.
Mis-expression of exex causes a thickening of ventral motor projections (but not dorsal motor projections), defects in longitudinal connectives and collapse of commissures.
Mutant embryos have extra eve-expressing neurons in the developing central nervous system.
