The C2H2 ZINC FINGER TRANSCRIPTION FACTORS gene group is a collection of genes encoding proteins containing Cys2His2 zinc finger motifs. This domain is most frequently associated with DNA binding, but in some cases this domain has been shown to mediate RNA and/or protein interactions. (PMID:15718139 and PMID:18286240).
Note that within this group, a subclass of C2H2 zinc finger transcription factors are found only in arthropods, its representatives contain a specific domain called ZAD (Zinc finger associated domain) thought to mediate protein-protein interactions (FBrf0220103, FBrf0155739). This corresponds to the InterPro domain Zinc finger, AD-type (IPR012934).
